I was starring at the abstract
Pattern on the ceiling,
Comparing it to
Michelangelo’s Last Judgment:
The way it flared; the
Way it charged—

And you approached my
Bunk, respectfully,
Brother,
And asked me who
My favorite painter was.

After thinking for a while,
I responded self-consciously,
“Raphael.”

“Mine is Rembrandt,” you replied.
