we got old so quickly
the clanging snare of punk
sideswipes riflemen
in gaiters
as caverns of spoken gold
echo with ladder rungs
numb feet
vodka blunted gums
loose cogged teeth
pewter clouds
low bruised chimneys
warped servile
as generations
bury generations
in the wrong order
shovels aglint
with rare dug gems
dawn sparrows
sick on the wing
as tragediennes
tuck hoary mountains
behind corroded gates
facing down skies
the pink of birthday cake
in the wrath of ice
the bowing of steel
the bend of time
a keening
for dreams
undreamed
hushed hopes
untamed

I haven't been able to watch
I haven't been able to watch the documentary but your words depict precisely how I would imagine poor but resourceful people trying to stay alive in Arctic Russia. I envisage a very harsh life where people really do anything they can in a struggle to survive and might die from homemade alcohol drunk in an attempt to stay warm and to numb their minds from the cruel reality.
Your words 'as generations bury generations in the wrong order' struck me as particularly sad but evocative of life in a particularly harsh environment.
I enjoyed your poem. Thank you.
