THE GARDEN OF HARMONY
Under cool-grey Sunday sky
pale bells of paulonia
drift down over these
treasuries of bonsai trees.
Each has given living height
to praise a patient artistry.
Haiku landscapes have they there-
like this, this one before me, where
under twisted tiny branch
of ancient pine, a terracotta sage,
on a patch of moss, forever ponders
the secret workings of the Way.
While in a stream, not far from him,
with perfect flow, the great carp swim.
