Monday Blues

I see that some people
have the Monday Blues.
They’re in a bad mood
and sorely tempted
to find an excuse
to miss the next train
in order to avoid
the dreaded workplace.
 
Notice the strain
etched on their faces
as they look ahead
to a long working week
with boring and repetitive
office routines.
The outlook
is ever so bleak.
 
They envy granddads
who have retired
and live their life
at a slower pace.
They are not being blue
but tickled pink
at having withdrawn
from the rat race.

I'm one of the tickled pink brigade now, but I well remember those Monday blues!

So am I, Jane. As for those Monday blues sometimes they seemed to last until Friday.
BTW I should have posted this yesterday, being a Monday, but I missed the boat.
