Ruffled Feathers

When the news spread
of what went on
between Zeus and Leda
the beautiful swan,
Demetrios of Athens,
a Greek ephebe,
decided to seduce
a great crested grebe.
He declared loudly
with absolute candour,
what's good for the goose
is good for the gander.
But the boy didn't stop
to consider whether
the avian creatures
were birds of a feather.
There was disapproval
from a wise old owl
who reprimanded him
with a severe scowl.
Then advised the youth:
don't behave like a nerd
it doesn't make sense
chasing a pennate bird.

The half- rhymes
The half- rhymes are excellent, natural and easy. What is pennate bird? Is it like prison perhaps? pennant? Got me lost here.
Loved your "don't behave like a nerd it doesn't make sense".
Well done! Tom
