Two-way Love Poem

I can assure you my words are true:
I would kiss the earth on which you walk
if only you’d reward me with a smile.
I’ve tried to read your body language,
and waited for a sign for quite a while
yet you remain as ever an enigma.
My hope was that you’d reveal yourself.
Perhaps I’ll be on my own until my dotage
but I guess that being alone is not a stigma.
I guess that being alone is not a stigma;
perhaps I’ll be on my own until my dotage.
My hope was that you’d reveal yourself
yet you remain as ever an enigma.
I’ve waited for a sign for quite a while
and tried to read your body language:
if only you’d reward me with a smile
I would kiss the earth on which you walk;
I can assure you my words are true.
