Making Dough

'As a scientist, Wilkinson knew that if he were ever to break wind in the echo chamber, he would never hear the end of it.'
'That's not bad at all, said Debbie as she plunged her arms lustily into a large bowl of bread flour. 'Much better than the one you came up with yesterday. I haven't a clue what that one was about.'
'I thought yesterday's was quite brilliant,' replied Will with a feigned look of disbelief, 'what was there to not understand?'
'Well if you run it past me again,' said Debbie with matching feigned indignation, 'I'll tell you.'
'Hang on a minute, its here somewhere,' said Will as he searched amongst his pile of witty one liners. 'Right, here it is. Listen carefully; give it a little thought and then tell me what it is you can't understand.'
'Look smart arse,' grinned Debbie, 'just read it out and cut out the smarter-than -thou.'
Will smiled, cleared his throat for a little dramatic effect and held a grubby piece of paper at arms length.
'Tonight's solipsism meeting is cancelled due to lack of interest.'
Debbie's exertions with the bowl of flour came to an abrupt stop as she gazed at Will across the kitchen work station; a blank expression on her face and a cute dab of flour on the tip of her nose.
'Well all I can say to that is if writing funnies is what you do for a living, I'll be making more dough than you this week.'
