Shopping to Excess - (2025 Remix)

Sunday , still November

Urban urchins, Doric divas, 

Tik-Tok toerags, Facebook fops

from tenement flats and tower blocks

all descend, upon the city

to shop!

Fists full of credit cards

Christmas cowboys heft heavy bags of prospective presents

on a wild east main drag, closed for repairs.

A thrashing throng of thrusting limbs

twist amidst the thrum of swarming shoppers fighting for attention

as the self checkout has checked out!

Yuletide jeers from Christmas village

Carnival riding, festive feasting- distant sounds

of  Mariah's wishing dulcet tones, drowned out 

by the beep and cheep of thousands of I-phones!
