Waiting there
Your brown hair swept back
You're standing there again
I happened to be passing and I wondered
What makes you wait
For three hours there
Every night, when you know he won't turn up?
When you know he's not coming back
When you know that love is given up
Evening
And busy, people going past
Don't notice you at all
But I happened to be passing and I wondered
And sometimes
Feeling a pain in your back
That makes you want to go
You wait still, and glance from side to side
As if you'd never lost him
As if you'd never cried
Five minutes more
You're probably going home
By now, right on time
I happened to be passing and I wondered
