HOT.

It is winter time here in England.
I made sure I am wrapped up well in bed. I remember getting into bed last night, and I as cold. My feet were cold and my hands were cold. I like to cover all of myself up with the duvet covering all of me, even my head. I was still conscious, that I was cold. I knew soon that I would start to warm up, but this time it took a while. I had lots on my mind, for usually I fall asleep very quickly, but I didn’t last night. My hands started to get warmer first, I could feel that.
I learnt something in the winter of last year, and up to this morning. Now that I have stopped having hot chocolate for my first drink of the day, I have gone back to drinking tea. To make sure I get enough liquid in me, I have one cup and then straight away I have another, then I know I have had enough to be going on with. At work I will have another in my flask, and back at home, If I feel thirsty, I have small bottles of water, I will have one of those, even if it just before I go to bed.
I find, the first hot drink of the day, is very comforting. That helps, and adding a slice of fresh ginger in with my hot tea, that helps too.
As our heating is off during the night, it can be freezing cold, first thing in the morning. At one point last year, I had got into the bad habit of putting the heating on, as I was coming down the stairs. It was a habit that I found hard to break, but break I had to do! As heating has become very expensive, and every morning was not good, it seemed good at the time, until I got the bill. So, with that in mind, I had to be firm and strict with myself and walk past the switch on the stairs, and just keep walking.
The kettle would go on; the fresh ginger would go in my favourite navy mug with my Yorkshire tea bag on top. The kettle would whistle and I would almost fill the cup up. I would add the blue top whole milk and stir.
I would get my Artist board, that I bought from my favourite shop, this has my diary and Bible on. I always sit in my favourite seat on the sofa, with the board on my lap and the diary on the board, with a nice pen. To my left is a small tiny pine table with my cup of tea on. The Bible is on the sofa next to me.
As cold as I am, with my pyjamas, dressing gown and slippers, I pick up the lovely navy mug and hold it in both hands. Something amazing starts to happen, as I sit there still and quiet, from my cup, the wonderful heat, warms my hands, and then my arms, and then my body and then my legs. Then before I know it, I feel as snug as a bug. I am as warm as if it is summer time, and it is like I have the heating on. How it works, I don’t know, that something SO simple and small, can do wonders like this.
Then once I am toasty and warm, I put my cup down and start to write, in my lovely diary, of all that is important to me, good or bad, it all goes into my diary. Sometimes it is two pages, sometimes it is four, at other times it is six pages. If I run out of ink, I have a pen ready to take that other pens place! Also, I always have another diary ready so that I never run out of writing material. The inside of the diary is just as important to me as the outside. It has to make me feel good. I have written a diary every day of my life from the age of 19 and now I am in my 60’s. I could not imagine life without writing my diary, it is just a part of what makes me, Me.
I have had three amazing diaries in my life, the first one, was beautiful, in its own beautiful box, that was from a very good friend called Gudrun. The second diary that was also very special, the cover was awesome was from my manager at work, for everyone at work knows I love to write, each month she had decided to give a co-worker who did outstanding work for that month, a gift bought with her own money. On one of those months, it was me, and she bought be a Beautiful, very pretty diary. The third diary that I had, was with the money that I got from work, for working there a very long time, I treated myself to a lovely expensive diary from TKMaxx.
With my second cup of tea, I drink this, while reading my Bible.
