Last year, while I was at my Mum’s flat, an old friend of my Mum’s came unexpectantly to visit. We had not seen her for about 20 years for the family had all moved over 100 miles away.
Ruth had somehow found Mum’s address and had arrived with her Stephen. We all know their family very well, a good family. It was lovely to see Ruth, she looked really well, she didn’t seem to have changed a bit!
We all had a laugh and a catchup. After about an hour they left, to go and visit another person we all knew. It was like she was doing the rounds, while she was at this neck of the woods. We showed her around Mum’s flat, as she was interested in having one similar.
Ruth is such a nice person, Mum and I felt uplifted, after her visit.
So, it was a shock a few months later to hear that she had died! She didn’t even look sick!
A short time later, on social media, one of her kids made a statement, of a rift that had happened, after her passing.
It was sad to know, this sweet family were now at loggerheads.
Ruth who had brought up all her children well, would be devastated!!
Another family is also in the news now, but they are very famous. This too is sad. I had heard bits, but as I do not follow the news, Meghan filled me in, this morning on his statement. Having heard his statement, I agree with him, but as Meghan has said to me, “There are two sides to every story.”
That is SO true. Meghan said, “I hope that in 20 years’ time, they can make up and be friends again.” I said, “That is not real life.” x

Sadly, you're right, Maxine..
Sadly, you're right, Maxine... as I know too well. I got flack after my mother passed away - for distancing myself from my sister-in-law... which, of course, also meant my brother (though he and I keep in touch). It's the only thing you can do with a narcissist, unfortunately. As you say, there's always two sides. I wish more people appreciated that.
