 Peace of mind is very important to me, between Man and Beast, but more importantly before God who sees all.

In my local supermarket, I love getting my reduced goodies and taking them to the self-service, checking each price before and after it is scanned.

At the reduced counter I saw two packs of fresh fish, one pack had two fishes in and the other pack of the same type of fish had four fresh fish in. Both of the packs of fishes were reduced to £2.79 so I naturally put the four pack into my trolley.

Now I do know, that when I buy reduced tins of cat or dog food, if one of the tins have fallen out when they in the storeroom, so that all it not lost, they use thick brown tape to secure the rest of the tins in the pack, and reduce the price and put them in the long life, reduced section of the store. I also know, that when I get to the self service when I scan it, it will pause so that I can’t go on, until a member of staff come along and verify that yes there is a can missing, for that is why it is reduced, it shows that the reduced sticker price is correct, because of the missing tin. The same applies with packs of water too. I have bought many bottled waters this way, reduced.

I was in a hurry as I was going to work, and would be away for two days. I scanned my items and then I scanned the fish, it actually came up on the screen as two fishes in a pack, it paused, I didn’t expect it to, but the machine recognised that the weight of the four fishes didn’t match the price of the two pack. I called the staff over, and she was speaking to someone on her head phones and scanned her card, for me to continue. I was pleased as I had just bagged a bargain.

I then went home, I put the fish in the freezer, so that I could decide at a later date when to eat it.

Slowly things didn’t feel right to me, who had I fooled? Who had I wronged? Surely this was theft? It troubled me greatly! I was at work now, and would not be back until the following day. I had lots of things racing through my mind, it was difficult to concentrate at work. I tried to justify what had happened, most would have said, “It is not theft, you paid for it.” Others might have said, “She should have been paying attention, and not just override, but to check why it had paused.” A few might have said, “Compared to those who steal with intent, hundreds of pounds, and knowing if the stolen items is under £200, they get to go free, as the police won’t come to the store for less than £200, so what is a few pennies?”

None of the above would have helped me, and I would have been too ashamed to tell anyone. I even had what seemed like a one-minute headache!

My ‘song’ in the day had gone! The Holy Spirit is my guide for a reason. I thought what should I do, to undo the wrong that I have done? Should I take the fish back tomorrow, and show her my receipt and put the difference in a charity tin they may have? I certainly didn’t want to get the lovely Staff into trouble!

I thought, should I just eat two of them and give the other two to the animals? I thought no as that would be a good thing, Or should I give all four to the animals? No because again, that would be a good thing for the animals.

Something had come up at work and I wondered it this was the solution? I wasn’t sure.

The next morning, I tried to pray as usual, but you can’t be two faced with God, the God of the Universe who knows all things, no matter how small.

I thought about the situation at work the day before, and realized how I could put things right!

Peace then came, for that was the right thing to do, and I know that doing that, would make things right with me and God again.

I told my work colleguge, what I was going to do, it would help another person, and it would mean me using my car, I never ever use my car for work situations, but today was different.

T

I then went in my car, and came back and helped that person, that would not have happened at all, if it wasn’t for the four fishes!

I

It felt GOOD! Balance, Peace, my ‘song’ in the day, was all restored!

When the time is RIGHT, I will eat all the four fishes over four days to myself, when I am with Mum for five days, I might even have chips with one of them as a treat.

Because everything was wrong, nothing felt RIGHT, there was only distraction for me, but once I decided to do the RIGHT thing, everything came back together perfectly! x
