I am my own ancestor

I am tracing the family tree of me.

I'm trying to work out the geneology 

of my own life. I'd like to know

who I really am. What makes me happy

I think, looking at my own name

on a sheet of paper. They are all

just names, on my family tree. But

they must have sat down

when their legs were tired

just like I'm doing now

and I don't know myself any better

than I know them.

Who did they love? Who do I love?

What motivated them? What am I doing

with my life? What will other people

think if they look at my name in the future.

Nothing really. I'm happy to be just a name

on a piece of paper.
