The Ageing Years
By Paul Mc Cann
Grandma said the other day ,
Doesn’t life just slip away
In her voice so soft and sweet
And her tears drops touched my feet
As she wiped her tears away
I could hear her softly say
Its so sad when you feel young at heart
But look so old and grey .
The ageing years keep calling
But on deaf ears they fall
I’ve danced the veils of ageing years
And await the curtain call .
I held my Grandma’s hand
And tried to make her understand
That I loved her downside picture
of what life had meant to her .
As she kissed me on the cheek
I could feel my knees go weak
Her old feeble hands were shaking,
once again she tried to speak .
The ageing years keep calling
But on deaf ears they fall
I’ve danced the veils of ageing years
And await the curtain call .
