Cleaning Houses
by Paul McCann
We drove for an hour and worked for three more
Cleaning the oven and mopping the floor.
Vacuuming their rooms upstairs and downstairs ,
wiping the windows and all of the chairs .
Washing and scrubbing all the walls as well ,
Every stair was cleaned where the dust had fell ,
The showers and toilets where sparkling clean
There were two of us in our cleaning team
We never stopped , until the job was done
we did our best but you just can’t please some,
she questioned our hours and the things we did
I mean like, who was she trying to kid .
Her whole house was as clean as clean could be
and if you ask me , she got it for free .
but she just moaned and groaned , the greedy bitch
We clean houses for the comfortably rich.

That was my job cleaning
That was my job cleaning houses back in the late 90s and early 2000, so your poem was relatable for me, though the people I worked for were very kind and said I'd done a great job.
I liked the rhythm and rhyme in your poem Paul.
Jenny.
