The Day Dropped In

I rose to a new day it began with a song.

But still I have no place , no place where I belong .

The dashboard clock said a quarter to four.

I parked on the side of the road next to the sea shore .

I found this little diner there and I walked in the room

Had a pot of tea in the middle of the afternoon.

Watched TV for a while and I wrote down this tune.

The day dropped in again and said call again soon.

The day dropped in and said hello nice to see you

Just wanted to call and say , how do you do .

I poured my thoughts on paper and tea in a cup.

I poured out some sugar and then took a sup.

          When I finished my tea I was leaving the room

The waitress she smiled and said call again soon .

The day dropped in and said hello nice to see you

Thought I’d bring you a song to sing .

How do you do .

 The day dropped in and said how are you
