The Doves Of Erin
By Paul Mc Cann
The doves of Erin they do mournfully cry to the sun in an overcast sky . They cry to the hills and they cry to the sea of the suffering in times gone by . Oh Erin the Rainbows above shimmer soft for the Kingdom of the promised land . As sure as God is in heaven above All the sorrows of Erin will demand . An eternity where the freedom of flight, Opens secrets that through time reveals , The tranquil moments of the hearts space, where Erin’s doves cry by the heavenly fields . Oh Harken to me sweet doves of Erin , And come to me in that tranquillity . For by hills emerald green near waters serene we will sing with the Queen of the Sea . When we get there where the promised land is , All our sorrows and our troubles will pass . Like corn in the snow or the crops that won’t grow , And our freedom will sing there at last . Then all Erin’s doves will be freed from their cries , and as sure as the skies up above , Nearer my God to thee we shall be , And nearer to understanding Erin’s dove. |
