The Long Walk To Malaccanang Palace
By Paul McCann
.
There’s a cruel rank and file
during preselection time
and we all hope for the right one to get in .
So they press on regardless
and they all have their debate ,
with their scruples devoid of the mark of sin .
There’s too many pokers in the fire
when they tell you
of the great job that nobody’s ever done .
So they walk tall into town
wearing promises as a crown
and hope that they can somehow overcome.
It's a long road to Malaccanang Palace
and stand as the chosen one elected
with the power of clout .
So it must be the will of the people
unless you’re a rebel or a dictator
who scream and shout .
On the presidency road
they all have to walk for a while
with both feet trailing
in the muck as they go .
It’s a hard yard all right
when there are so many people there
who end up as rivals running the show .
So if power is what they share
in their own Devils Lair
its no wonder they they’ve lost
their friendly smile .
Cold hearted and stern faced
fork tongued and disgraced
are the people on their way
To the Malaccanang mile .
