The Man They Couldn’t Hang

They said he’d be dead before thirty five

but he’s still alive and trying to survive ,

just like a cat with nine lives in his hat ,

he’s an acrobat in his own lifetime ,

a target on the street of the dead meat gang ,

is the man they couldn’t hang.

If you rattle his cage you might unlock his rage

and there’s nowhere you can run

on the merciless streets ,

secrets are alive and well ,

five footsteps from hell the bells of heaven rang ,

but who wants to walk or talk in the shoes

of the man they couldn’t hang .

They handcuffed him too

and beat him black and blue

but he  walked away free as a bird .

He had faith and he  knew ,

he was safe to face the fear

of the place he was strung ,

the man who couldn’t be hung .

For there was nothing he had done .
