A Working Man’s Life
by Paul McCann
.
I worked hard for years to make a quid ,
they sold me out to the cheapest bid .
Someone younger , someone taller ,
someone they said who was a crawler .
After what I’ve done and all I gave,
There’s no more money for me to save .
Where do I go and what can I do ,
with all of my bills still coming through .
They took my job and I lost my wage .
Too old to work they said at my age .
I still have some skills , but they don’t care ,
I’m out of pocket it’s seems unfair .
I went out to find another job.
I’d do anything for a few bob .
I’d work outside in the freezing cold
but they try to tell me I’m too old .
They refused to give me a pension ,
there’s something deserves a mention ,
I’m an innocent hard working man
and I’ve always done the best I can .
The future is unknown to me ,
I’ve no idea what’s going to be ,
but I guess I’ll have to wait and see ,
the cost of living is killing me .
