Morning Hours

For hours and hours I lay,
Inside out and eyes closed
As the sun rose through the window.
You looked at me and I knew what you wanted.
What you wanted only,
And only inside out.
Inside out.
'What do you feel?' you whispered.
'Heaven,' I said, 'What do you feel?'
'You.'
And that was enough for that moment,
And the next, and the next.
Always enough forever,
But I couldn't keep up the pace.
Not that morning. Not then.
A kiss here, and here, and here again,
Until my legs were closed and shaking
And you lay sleeping on my belly.
Then minute after minute
Of sleep and awake and sleep again,
Wanting only to have the strength
To wake you,
And kiss you,
Until the alarm rang on the floor
To tell me it was morning.
