ROSES
There’s roses growing against my wall,
They range in size from large to small.
Their colour is a sight to behold,
They’re making a statement, being quite bold.
When I received you as a gift,
You were just what I needed, you gave me a lift.
You were so tiny, yet so strong,
Through the harsh cold winter you held on.
Year after year since she has gone,
You’re here for ever, it’s where you belong.
You’re pink and yellow with hues of red,
An aching heart will know no rest.
Your fragrant beauty eases the pain,
Is balm to the soul and the tortured brain.
I wonder at the way you grow up,
Through the boughs, the wisteria and all.
Ere you should continue, up and up,
Past the wall, the sky, the clouds.
Unshroud this mystery that we think so dark,
Hark the herald hark.
Show me her face that I loved so much,
Those eyes, that hair, that soft, soft skin.
Let her envelop me and take me in,
To her mysterious world where she dwells without me,
her mummy.
Leaving me here to sit it out, to wait for the mystery to take me too,
I’m not afraid, I know she’s there,
Watching and waiting.
There’s so much more than this penance to endure,
When the time is right, it’ll take me I know,
Into her arms, her body, her soul,
where we will become one, once more.
