From A Reflection

FROM A REFLECTION
From a reflection shadows are
cast-forlorn over our backs
melting here and there-along, this
vacant stretch of beach, coming here
waiting to feel something, a loss of years
we walk shivering against the cold
lost in our reflection, deep in thought
of our reminiscent loss, as we let it go
backdrop, o'er pounding surf, as the -echo's- repeat-echo
left by the undertow- submerge- unable to breathe
we can't go back- so we walk on-through; as if
a simple refraction of light-a moments, day to night
where there is no trace-or doubt-of us; remaining
we are exposed-given into the mood of the elements; a moon in denial
for whatever remained between us; you and I
all will be buried tonight- with the incoming tide
