Story3: Nature reciprocates

I sleep late and my mother sleeps early in the night. I wake late in the morning and she wakes up early in the morning. I love to watch crime serials. Fresh episodes are telecasted in this period. I also keep the volume of TV low. She gets very busy with household work. First, it tires her. Second, it agitates her. In addition to that she is fifty two years old.
“Mother, I am going to sleep.” I told her. The watch was showing 10:30 Am. This made her angry.
“Why don’t you sleep early in the morning?” She asked me. I was mum.
“What do you get by watching these crime serials?” She threw another question on me. I just listened and didn’t bother to reply because this would increase the argument.
“Why don’t you utilise this time? Why don’t you invest your time for self-study? Students study for eight hours daily.” She continued.
“You are wasting your time. It is precious. You would regret if you don’t change your behaviour.” She tried to explain me.
“You are not going to succeed in competitive exams. It requires a lot of hard work and determination. You lack both. Your father used to lock himself in a room and studied eight hours daily. You have lost interest in studies. A little study would not take you through. Do you understand what I am saying?” Her bitter words hurt me a lot. I decided to be mum because I knew her anger would not last long. After few minutes she got silent and I went to bed.
I was asleep in the afternoon. Loud noise of television waked me up. I took my smartphone in my hand and checked, it was 2:30 PM. It is a daily activity. I can’t say a word to my mother because I did the same thing to her. Nature reciprocates.

I really like this series of stories, vignettes of the family's life. Your narrator is almost like a Candide figure, finding out about life the hard way. I look forward to reading more.
