there was once a diligent student at trinity
who tried understanding a third of eternity
counting how many days
boggled his brains
so he dropped maths and changed to divinity

Maybe then he realised the limitations of what we can comprehend! I think my husband was bothered as a child to realise there wasn't an end to counting! Rhiannon

Most people wouldn't think so but you need incredible imagination to be a mathematician, Rhiannon you should know from your late husband? A breed of one-of-a-kind's. Also you must have real faith to believe in things so strongly and completely accept truths that you cannot see, and not with any of the senses, existing only as ideas.

I should mention that me husband is very much alive still, I was talking of his past when he was a child!

As for faith in what we don't understand, we do have much evidence to support it even if we cannot fully, as humans comprehend. The amazing creation, the scriptures (including the prophets' messages, and the providential ordering of so much history), the life and ministry of Jesus Christ show the truths that we believe. Quite right! But perhaps there are levels of abstraction, and usually we do think in terms of examples.
