Sums run down the page,
Numbered neatly one to ten.
Each correctly spaced -
Each number in its own square.
Each one red ticked right.
The flowing lines of logic
Are not visible.
They hide beneath the paper -
In the breadth of thought.
Search for them behind a leaf,
Try beyond the moon!
Find them in running water;
Look in distant lands.
In every place a pattern;
A dynamic truth.
Look underneath the world's skin;
Find a cosmic rule:
A matrix of simple lines;
Unwavering notes
In cacophonies of sound.
Each figure repeats
In innumerable ways.
And us, we quest here,
With minds filled up with patterns,
For the overlay;
The design above all else.
