Squirrel Disposal Services

The wife recently got her nails done accross the street in the plazas nail salon. On returning she informed me of a recently dead squirrel in the street in front of our home. "It wasn't there when I left" she said! The obvious implication being that I should take some of urgent action in this matter. This meant fetching a shovel and rake from the backyard to find him/her (didn't check) all fresh and warm and oozing just a little. I don't think it was one of our favorite squirrels, they are mostly in the back yard. She was pretty beat up so I don't know if I woud have recognized her anyway. To be honest, I would give a local squirrel a decent disposal of my own accord. It may be just a squirrel, but if he lives in our tree he's family by me I figure. A beloved pet rates a decent burial here, but road kill goes in the trash can. Because he's such a valued member of our local eco-society he went into a zip-lock first instead of just getting dumped in the can. Trash day isn't till next Wednesday and although it will be cooler with a hint of Autumn in the air, I don't need the poor little guy getting all smelly waiting beside the house. This is the life of a suburban ranger I suppose...
