My Professor, a genius
A smiling face
glittering his grace,
a spectacle as an ornament
proclaiming his talent
as a student, studious
on his interests, his focus
with an grasping power enormous
smoothly sails, he journey, arduous
a professor of eminence at eighty
with the urge of a student at twenty
Benign gait
love and kindness in spate
lithe, lanky, handsome
with aplomb, awesome
a benign mortal frame
a creation, none can blame
smart, energetic, ever agile
with focus and words, never fragile
him, gems of talents adorn
thast can match none
a non-smoker, a non-alcoholic
with a virtuous lifestyle, his basic
with all the characteristics of Gurus, epics adore
over present teachers his traits score
maintained he, thus, since the age of twenty
till this age, when he is over eighty
a guru of benign caliber
as the Hindu epics color
specially crafted in heaven
to aid His illusory creation
His unique concentration
made his success, certain
His tenacity is well proven
by his international recognition
his thirst for his profession
from his teenage, it has begun
he is our Dr Dash, the beloved professor
a guru, a guide, and an inspiring motivator
appearing at a time
when no engineer could climb
to the top rung for a Doctoral degree
when also, hardly, we could see
in international journal of repute
that Indian engineers could contribute
P hd s, eighty and paper six hundred
an unachievable feat he crafted
his students in thousands
décor the earth as his garlands
as captains of industries
to prosperity, holding the keys
as teachers and researchers
as the future civilization builders.
The tree of his earthly contribution
luxuriantly grows and is bound to grow on and on.
The best graduate
of the entire Orissa state
with option open, plenty
from bureaucracy to chances, across sea
preferred he, an engineering subject
to be a teacher as his object
and seizing this opportunity
to grasp its in-depth beauty
pronouncing it as infinite
humbly surrendering his limit
toward the end of his glorious career
revealing it to a student, dear
at Chennai, visit to sea shore
his humility from the heart’s core
At his teens with determination
he travelled to IISC, his destination
the journey and separation were perilous
tackled it by a Baleshore boy, ambitious
for graduation and post-graduation
to fulfill his noble ambition.
and joined in Nineteen hundred sixty-four
at REC Rourkela as a lecturer, senior
then as our teacher at our Alma mater.
Reminisce I those days from my memory corridor.
Started and superannuated his career,
serving thirty-seven years at my Alma mater
foregoing overseas offers
with alluring salaries and exposures
He served his state and our Alma-mater
Salute, we all alumni and the society, the professor
Sambalpur university
to our pride and glee
conferred him doctoral degree
as first engineer, a pride place in her history
After superannuation
mammoth was his contribution
for an unbelievable period of a quarter century
illustrating his lifestyle managenent glory
shaping private technical institutions
in threir pursuits to aid nations' prosperity
with engineering graduates having technical ability
that he did for some time as a vice chancellor of an institute
which he gave up for his research for concentration, brute
Sir! Salute I your for your chosen ambition
and services and sacrifices that, us, stun
your achievements are unique
that for ages history will speak
His career lasting over six decades
to appreciate it, fail all accolades
From the best institution
with the highest degree in technical education
he had the option
for the best in a man’s life’s ambition
but he chose to be a teacher
with perks and salaries, mesgre
a choice a sacrifice
to laud it no tribute can suffice.
we revere our teacher
on par with the creator, the Master
the sustainer and annihilator
as per the Hindu philosophy, our hearts harbor
He deservingly fits for such propitiation
we his students and his, associates in unison.
Blessed I am to be his student
and for a brief period colleague in the department
his teachings, spoken and unspoken
served me as a divine beckon
to travel in this life span of six decades
sailing over many blockades.
Console I myself to arrest my inner sigh
that man is mortal and is sure to die,
age and time rob man of his power, vital
with low immunity, a simple ailment can be lethal
giving sufferings and hellish pain
burdened it with strenuous mental strain
prefer a man to leave the physique tattered and worn
to see a new life as a baby newly born
let us bid farewell, Prof Das, with our good wishes
that a parting soul intends after its mortal body perishes.
Hey Professor, you are the Lord's messenger
your association we will long forever
The Hindu philosophy speaks
In life, four pursuits a man seeks
living with virtues divine,
having wealth, benign,
fulfilling desires material
to live with bliss in life, mortal
ultimately aiming at liberation
after death to have heavenly fun
Analyze I Professor Dash’s achievements
in every pursuit, I see his contentments.
Sixty years of conjugal harmony
with Madam Dah’s heavenly company
walking with Proff Dash shoulder to shoulder
two sons and their offspring, they could nurture
to spread their conjugal fragrance abroad
at all such achievements, we are overawed.
“ Hey Madman We hail your share in Prof Dash’s contribution.
Pray the Lord to give you the strength to endure the pang of separation.”
Sir! your mortal frame
consumed by sacred flame
vanished into five primordial elements
but will continue to glitter on mortal earth, your brilliance.
Pay we, our gratitude to the Lord
on the earth, blessings He had poured
through Prof Dash, a genius
to spread your divine fragrances.
Hey Lord! You we pray
for Mr Dash’s blissful stay
in your abode
whom with bent knee head bowed
convey we, our gratitude, earnest
appealing you for ensuring his blissful rest.
