Print currency,,
Perish poverty.
P K Routray
“Where from does money come?
Why on the earth, currency has many a form?
Money comes in simple printed paper,
why does not the government give more to the pauper?
Then the poverty will vanish, everybody will be rich,
The world will be well fed and well clad without any hitch.
Why will be there on the earth poor and rich?”
A half clad poor villager asked me to teach.
To me he was ignorant and illiterate
but his questions in me did reverberate.
The consumer index, GDP growth, inflation and production performance
to answer and satisfy the bare needs completely lost their relevance
Queries and answers by him seemed to be logically in order
as now currency are nothing but practically a printed paper.
The stock of gold is no more binding boundary
in ascertaining the quantity of currencies as notes promissory.
Whom to promise, why to promise and what to promise
on gun point or in face of starvation nothing does arise.
From the unethical control over the resources of the mother earth,
their uneven distribution and consumption the questions get birth
as to the intention of a privileged few manipulating these wealth
for their selfish ends at the cost of present and future generation’s health.
Did the Almighty intend to create rich and poor?
Somebody has to live in luxury and somebody to die of hunger.
Equality, fraternity and universal brotherhood will then not exist
to counter the uneven distribution, muscle power and brain power will rise and fight.
War, hatred, rebellion will be sole aim of the have-nots in life
The earth will be torn under constant war and strife.
If each country is allowed and has to live within its boundary limit in isolation
It may be possible but one will be sage, the other as savage and another as demon.
The man on the earth will perish
and his self centered creation will vanish,
Beasts, birds and insects will live in merry
getting rid of greedy man and singing the Creator’s glory.
