P K Routray
Wolf couple’s fervent food quest
Could not let them be in rest.
Painful was many days’ hunger
The male could bear no longer.
A human body she finally found
When gloomy was the ground.
Tastes human flesh sweeter
Hardly they thought of earlier.
Couple crossed the ground in haste
While she wolf foresaw his deed of past.
Greedily gripped he the corpse’s hand
Relish the hunger by feasting grand.
“No, no” shrieked she in anger
“That body’s hand let not be our dinner
It has helped the needy never.”
He wolf then caught corpse’s leg
“Stop stop” shrilled her meek mug”.
“The leg took him not to any pious place,
Do not eat that to be out of God’s grace.”
Then he put his teeth on the corpse’s eye
“It never shed for others” said she with a sigh.
He wolf looked at the brain of the dead body
“It never thought good of anybody” told the lady.
Being fade up he put claws on the dead chest
Thinking sweet would be his lungs and heart.
Flaring up she was atop her voice in anger
“Hey Idiot! Can you not put up your hunger?
This man loved none with sincerity and truth
Breathed bad, did bad and contributed bad since birth.”
The he wolf jumped over the dead corpse’s soft tummy
Hoping it be fatty and fleshy with the taste of honey.
“Hey pauper!” shouted she wolf and stopped her partner
“With sinful stuff in, the stomach is not our food proper.”
Hungry wolf could see the light of wisdom in her logic
Wondered “What a creature is Man: so tragic and toxic!”v
