If she had been wearing her seat belt

My daughter might have had a chance if she'd been wearing her seat belt.
Now I'm miserable and my life is worthless because of the blow I was dealt.
While I was driving her to Dollywood, I hit a truck head on.
She was only six years old and it's my fault that she's gone.
She'd still be alive if I had made her wear her seat belt like I should've.
A few people have said that the seat belt might not have saved her but I know it would've.
My In-laws hate me but they don't hate me half as much as I hate myself.
My wife has stood by my side but I would've deserved it if she had left.
My daughter should've died of old age but she didn't even make it to the age of ten.
Some day in the future I might be able to forgive myself but I don't know when.
(Even though this is a fictional poem, everybody should wear seat belts.)

Well, I sure am glad it's
Well, I sure am glad it's fictional! It's very direct, almost like song lyrics, in fact I found myself reading it with Dollywood twang, y'all. I think you might like to take a little old rubberneck at lin 7. I sure as I reck'n I can't see no good reason for the rhyme scheme to break right there, an' it's just a little outta kilter right there.
Anyhaw I did enjoy your poem, though it did make me a little sad, and I leave you wishing you all the best.
Bye now.
[I really liked the rhythm, especially in the first half]
Thanks for reading. I am grateful for your time.
