If love was all alone
In spirit and in truth
Hate and anguish banished
If old and young were proof
If the world could see bright colours
Soft-spoken words were read
If love was all alone
What comfort for the dead
If love was all alone
And prospered in this land
The hand that heals all sorrows
Then love would make it stand
Dim eyes can only wonder
Of a promise yet to come
When the cold embers of this life
Are blest by radiant sun.
If love was all alone.
