[Continuing the hymn-for-Sundays series]

The prophets and the law
were teaching long before
about true holiness,
salvation from sin’s mess
– much needed grace that God would bring:
accept and honour Christ the King.

How deep the love of God
within the Trinity:
the Father loves his Son
so deeply, and yet he
sent him to earth to teach and save:
listen! receive the gift he gave!

Hi Rhiannon

 

I always enjoy your poem-hymns. My person that I am writing about wrote hundreds of hymns that are still used in some churches today.  When I make my final book, I think I will start each chapter with an appropriate first 4 lines of one of his hymns.

Thank you, Jean. That sounds an interesting idea. Someone in our church did 'Thoughts for the Day' strating in the first lockdown, for our church and many others he knew as he travels around the country preaching, and many churches hadn't the means to help their members during lockdown. He always ended his piece with some hymn, old or new. My husband has just taken over organising it for some, and he also, usually chooses a bymn verse, and encourages those who take over some days to do so. Rhiannon
