Jesus saw, He called; He sees, He calls

[Continuing the hymn-for-Sundays series]
Matthew* sitting at his stall –
Jesus saw him in the crowd.
Short Zacchaeus** heard his call –
seen by Jesus up a tree.
Sees with love, and melts hard hearts,
calls and draws and life imparts.
Out of darkness, unbelief,
selfishness that ends in grief,
out of actions we despise,
lusts that master, greed and lies:
Jesus came and brought us out
showed us what life’s all about.
Into light that’s clean and true,
loving, thoughtful, certain too,
guiding into safe wise ways,
peace and mercy all your days.
'Jesus, in your light we find
illumination of the mind.'
Walk, live now with Christ within,
Light of life will shine from him.
Do not grieve Him, turn from sin,
gladly light to others bring.
For there’s darkness all around,
many need the light we’ve found.
Learn about what pleases him,
read the scriptures for therein
we can learn of righteousness,
goodness, truth and future bliss.
Live as children of the light,
waiting future heavenly sight.
