Many like religious rules
that just require the commission
of this and that, and yes, omission
of noticeable unkind action,
but not demanding heart submission,
repentance, faith and consecration.
The laws of God are not designed
to make us sad – in fact you’ll find
that sinful “pleasures” soon turn sour
when past their brief ‘exciting’ hour.
Even rejecting thought of God
does not being happiness or good.
Submission full of heart and mind,
repentance, faith – in Christ you find
salvation, pardon through His blood,
delight in His commandments good.
Though trouble, follies dog our way,
we’ve help, and joy, peace day by day.

at the core
Your last stanza is in a way at the core of Christianity, and unique amongst major world religions.
As for the second stanza, you don't know what is enough, until you know what is too much!
As the first, as protestants we believe we can only be saved by grace, and cannot earn salvation and joyful afterlife and heaven through good deeds it is only mercy.
You write the most beautiful poetry & Nolan
