Our Neighbours

Windows broken three on one
side two on the other
a faded worn down building
the garbage
always late for pickup
easy pickings for the strays
neighbours complaining

papa toils for enough
to get by
yet his children are
so cheerful
not caring they’re poor
living their lives each day
having fun and all.
