Today is Lazy

Thank you, scratch. Winter has been strange the last few years. Snow, then rain, then wind and snow, in repeating waves. No news on any changes with Susan, my sister. She is still fighting on. Recuperation will take 2-3 months in hospital. Take care, Richard and Esther.

Hello PT, thank you for your kind thoughts. Susan is now pretty well sleeping most of the time, while her body begins to rebuild. Nothing new to report. This will be going on for the next two months at least. Thankfully two sisters are nearby, but still hard on them because they have their own lives to live. God bless all of you for your thoughts and prayers. I find so much of my poetry lately is nostalgic, and at the same time from the perspective of an older person. There does not seem to be any poetry out there relating to seniors, or rather older persons, especially since we are living much longer. At my age of 70 I would have been considered a junior at the Home for Aged where I worked. Of the 173 clients, 25 over 90 were quite active, physically and emotionally. There were another 15 in bad physical shape. Our average age was probably around 78. Well we are getting another "snowstorm" with all the warnings and gasping fears about driving conditions...and...and. In my day we simply said, "Oh look, it's snowing outside. Now hurry off to school; walking of course." Now it's, got to close the schools, mostly because it is slippery, and we don't want any accidents with the school buses; don't want the lawyers to sue the buttocks off us." Friends love to see the schools close, so they can drive 30 miles through the melee and take their kids skiing. It's crawling with kids, I'm told, on school closing days. How things change, eh? Hello Kevin, Snow used to ALWAYS come from the Yukon, NWT area, and now believe it or not, much now comes from Texas, USA. Yes. Then it sweeps into western Canada and works its way East. One big change is no matter how much snow comes where I live, within 24-72 hrs, almost all gone. Amazing. Of course it is followed by rain/cold creating icy condition. One sad thing is drivers cause these horrific accidents you read about, like the recent one near Edmonton where 100 people were banged around. When I lived in Toronto about 45 years ago, I could barely drive, they went so fast as they headed into lake country friday nights. Bumper to bumper, full blast at 100 km, no matter if rain, snow, wind was having a fury-attack. Phew. What a change here in Truro, Nova Scotia where the side streets all have Stop signs and we give way to others all the time. Cheers, Richard ps. thanks for reading my poem.
