Born in the USA

He’s coming home for Christmas.
He’s coming home to stay,
our loyal son of Uncle Sam,
born in the great USA
He’s coming home for Christmas,
the baby whom I bore.
My heart should be feeling happy.
It’s the day that I’ve longed for.
He’s coming home for Christmas,
my husband and my joy.
My heart goes out to meet him,
my darling soldier boy.
He’s coming home for Christmas.
My daddy’s coming back,
but why is mummy crying,
and why is she dressed in black?
He’s coming home for Christmas.
We ought to be feeling glad,
but he’s coming home in a coffin
draped in our nation’s flag.
He’ll be home with us for Christmas.
Nevermore will he go away.
He’s given his all for Uncle Sam,
and died for the great USA.
