D- A breath

At dawn the night never occured,
Gone from the world but now awake,
Occurence of today, yesterday unheard.
Reality, in time becomes fake.
That I could touch now turns to dust,
That which was clean now starts to rust,
Perhaps loosing faith in all I could trust.
A breath of life I cannot see,
To the eyes t'is nothing at all,
Yet only from breath do you see me,
One large blow can make a tree fall.
But why can I not hold your hand?
And why can't we do what we'd planned?
How now this breath is weaker than sand?
I live for now a smile from the past,
A kiss in youth more vivid than red,
Fire is gone yet embers still last,
Healing occurs once you have bled.
The love in your heart will not fade,
After earthly things have decayed,
Forever that part in your life they had played.
