It’s Gonna Be Me, Not You!
It was her! Yes, her!! The woman of his dreams! She was standing right in front of him! Or was this just another dream? No! No! No!!! This was true. She was really there, just a few feet away. Very few feet away!!
He ran… Not towards her. He ran away from her. His heart was pounding hard and fast. Anyone around him could hear his deep breaths. He was sweating, blood pressure rising, and he was shivering! Because she was the woman, he saw in his dreams at nights. Every night!!
He thought for a moment, why am I running away? There she is. Right there. It's a now or never situation. He stopped running and looked back. There she was. So beautiful. She was walking towards him and she was smiling at him. His heart beat faster. This was the time to tell her. Or he might not see her ever in his life again. He looked at his side. There was the hostel garden and there were many roses in it.
He searched for the most beautiful rose. He found it. The rose was very beautiful. But it was no match for her beauty, he thought.
He quickly began towards her to present the rose. Unexpectedly, there came the boy with blue eyes, running. He had joined the hostel just the previous day. But, what mattered now was, he too was running towards the beautiful woman of our hero's dream, with a rose in his hand. Our boy was shocked. He ran faster, to reach her first. The blue eyed boy ran faster too. They raced and reached the lady together. Both of them presented their flowers. She took them with a big smile. The blue eyed one talked first, "Please accept me". Our boy couldn't let her go, "No... Accept me..." She was confused. She wanted to accept one of them. But who?
"I'll let you know tomorrow morning", she said. And she was gone.
"She'll accept me. Not you. She won’t like your scary blue eyes”
“You wait till tomorrow to see her rejecting you”
“Hey, are you dreaming? I’m good in studies, good in sports. She’ll reject you”
“But just studies and sports won’t get you to her. I think she liked my eyes”
Yes, it was true. By the way, she had looked at his eyes, anyone could say that she had liked them. They were really beautiful. It was like, ‘his beautiful eyes versus my score in curriculum’, our boy thought.
Both the boys frowned at each other and parted. That night, our hero didn’t sleep. She had filled his eyes. He need not sleep to see her now. He lay awake all night looking forward to the rising sun. For him, the whole night last like just an hour in her thoughts.
Meanwhile, the lady was sleepless in her bed; and was thinking hard, who to select tomorrow. Both the boys were adorable. She asked herself, who she liked more and closed her eyes to concentrate. She saw two blue beautiful eyes on one side and a football placed on two books on the other side. Slowly, two eyes merged and became a single eye on one side. And on the other side, the football transformed into one more eye. Now there were only two eyes in her mind and nothing else. Her choice had been made. Slowly, she drifted to sleep.
And it was morning. Our boy dressed well and ran to the hostel gate to see her. The blue eyed boy was there before him. He too was waiting for her. Both exchanged angry looks.
“SHE WILL REJECT YOU”, both muttered under their breaths.
And she came. But she was accompanied by another man. Both the boys didn’t care who he was. They ran to her and asked, “What did you decide?”
“Let me talk the hostel warden about both of you first. I’ll then decide”
Two minutes later, they were in the warden’s chamber. They conversed for few minutes about both the boys. Then the woman and the man beside her talked among themselves. Both the boys looked at each other, their eyes spoke, “It’s gonna be me, not you!”
Remembering the pair of eyes, she had seen last night, the woman made up her mind and spoke–
“I have decided to…”
Both the boys whispered to themselves, ‘let it be me God, please… please…’
The woman continued, “Aaah, Sorry… me and my husband have decided to adopt both of these orphan boys. One’s very cute. And the other is very good in academics. We like them both. For us, they’re as valuable as a pair of eyes.”
The warden of the orphanage school hostel spoke, “It’s very great of you. I wish all those people with no children follow you.” He was very delighted with her decision. And so were the two boys. They smiled at each other…
Because now…, they were brothers… :-)
