The Unbreakble Bond

“What is my reason for seeking the Holy Grail?”. I still wonder about that question until now. I made an agreement with the Holy Grail to became a servant in the Holy Grail war. I served many masters before but all of them were defeated before I could get my hands on the Holy Grail. You might think of me as a selfish person, making an agreement with the Holy Grail to became a servant just to seek its powers, the power to grant someone’s wish. Me, I thought it was an opportunity, to redo the selection of the king of my kingdom. I wanted someone else to became king and not me. That person can led the kingdom better than me.
Yet here I was today, not even I could predict this. Becoming a servant for Tamamo or better known as Rinoa and at the same time a guardian at Sotoba Village. Well, this guardian job isn’t pretty bad at all, just ensuring the safety of all the villagers in Sotoba Village. Well, Rinoa is the head guardian, or was it someone else. That doesn’t matter to me because all of us, the people who protected the village are the same person, the person who are willing to risk their life so that others can live peacefully. I still wonder about my reason for becoming a servant, but I pretty much didn’t let it bother my daily life here at Sotoba Village.
I am starting to like this village. From the first time Rinoa brought me here until now, I pretty much worked hard to gain trust from all the people of Sotoba Village. From a cold-hearted, dark killer of a servant to someone that protects other people’s lives. That is truly a remarkable transformation of myself thanks to none other than Rinoa herself. While you are reading this, I am at the balcony of Rinoa’s mansion, sipping tea while looking at night sky, filled with glittering stars. I like writing of course. I picked up creative writing to fill my time when I was not on duty guarding the village.
Still I am afraid, “what will happen if my old self returns back to me?”, but Rinoa told me, “don’t worry about it Alter, I am sure that your past self will no longer bother your thoughts now as you have changed now”. Thanks to her, I hold those words dearly even until today, not forgetting every word that she said. I know she is worried about me when I am in trouble. I still remember that one particular incident where I was running, trying to seek shelter from the rain in the forest. I tripped myself and then, I lose consciousness. Rinoa, of course worried about me, bravely goes out into the forest, endured the rain until she found me and dragged me into a cave, away from the rain. She made a fire as well, and taken care of me until I gain consciousness.
Rinoa pretty much helped me a lot. I owe a lot from her, changing the person into what I am today to even saving my life. I will never forget all of the things you done to me Rinoa. Never. Even if I become a servant for other master, I still will regard you as my one and only master. No one can replace you. A typical master only viewed me as a tool to win the Holy Grail war, but Rinoa is different. Instead of viewing me as a servant, she thinks of me as her friend. No one had ever called me their friend before. Rinoa, the first person ever to call me her friend. I cannot hold my tears as I hugged Rinoa tightly while I was crying. I admit it, a knight cannot or never cries but I had forgotten all of it when Rinoa told me I was her friend.
I admit to myself here, that I cannot be separated from Rinoa. Even if you tried to separate me from her, I will kill you for sure. I won’t let anyone ruin my relationship with Rinoa, even if it meant losing my life as well. Surely, with that said, I have no reason at all to leave Sotoba Village. My friends, that I hold dearly, will last for eternity in my heart. Sounds dramatic to you? Well to me, its just a normal thing to me. Well, tomorrow my daily routine goes on as usual, patrolling the village, maybe with Rinoa or the other guardians but who knows, maybe fate will determine it.
That’s it for now. I hope I can write more somewhere in the future, for the younger and older generation of Sotoba Village to read. Furthermore, to the fox lady, I wish you a happy life and thank you. I am grateful that I met you in the first place.

Hi Saber Alter. Firstly a big
Hi Saber Alter. Firstly a big warm welcome to the site. I think this is the first piece of yours that i have read. I enjoyed it even though fantasy isn't really my thing. A few words of critique.
There is a lot of repetition in this. the use of the same words over and over again. For example you use the words "Holy Grail" five times in the first five lines. Its too much.
The first few lines would read much better as
" What is my reason for seeking the Holy Grail?" I still ponder that question even now. I made an agreement with the damn thing to become a servant in its war,
Same, but only used Holy Grail once.
The same would go for Satoba village. Once you've told us its name there is no need to keep repeating it.
Good work and I hope to read more.
