All the men wear

straight leg chino shorts

in tan and khaki and beige. 

They pair them with a polo shirt,

usually navy;

sunglasses with gold logos.

The polo shirts hug their bellies.

 

Trees at five metre intervals

grow in boxes of soil that fit 

between grey paving slabs.

The shadow of leaves 

moving slowly deserve 

a better canvas.

 

Range Rovers obscure

the view of ‘Fired Earth’ 

and ‘Holland and Barrett’.

 

I paid ten pounds for this 

smoothie and I already finished it.

Congratulations, Samhenning!  Loved the visual language taking me to some sun-drenched Monaco inspired beachfront.  Although the milkshake makes me think UK in their hottest summer - that would be nearly AUD$20 in our currency!  FYI I live on the West Coast of Australia, in Perth, so you could be describing a place (and the people) just down the road from me. :-)
