Working from home

Did you hear the owls this morning?
I say much later in the day.
She looks up from her screen.
Yeah, loud weren’t they?
She says without much enthusiasm.
Must have been at least three.
Probably.
The room turns back to silence.
I take a sip of coffee, it’s not warm
anymore. Which is a shame.
I reach my hand across my desk
onto hers. She looks at it,
then rests her warm fingers
against my upturned palm.
For a moment we just sit there
like that. I’m happy.
I hope she is too.

There's a peaceful serenity
There's a peaceful serenity about working from home that comes across in this poem.
Jenny.

I think it's a double edged
I think it's a double edged sword, Jenny. As someone who lives alone, I turned down the opportunities to work from home because I thought it would turn me into a hermit.
