Atheistic flowers are blossoming

watered by the Bastille ink of Voltaire
by the copious tears of Galileo and Spinoza
by the blood of Marlowe, Thomas Aikenhead,
and myriad other martyrs:

atheistic flowers are blossoming

their meme garden is growing
filling the lush and civil fields of Europe
and the rocky terrain of China,
boldly finding fertility by the coy ponds in Thailand and Laos,
appearing in brilliant shades
(though surrounded by superstitions
and long-rooted, reactionary weeds)
from Cuba to America to the sands of Africa

the bees of liberalism, learning and science
are spreading their pollen of noble truth
to receptive pistils in the minds of youth

yes, the workers are too few
but the garden of truth is growing,
atheistic flowers are blossoming
in all the colors of humanity
