bored, flailing mind
smokes a marlboro out of
utter nothingness
Anna’s eyes sparkle bright…
I give her cigarettes to
smell her pheremones
I resist the pull
of the toxic TV noise…
its power vanishes
My cell phone rings and
I pick up and it’s Sultan…
the sky grows bluer
The fierce crusaders
slaughtered men, women, babes of
Jerusalem… Why?
Less than half alive
I walked the fearsome city…
but chance spared my life
Through the lonely fog
of night I saw his black skin…
and changed direction
my heart races madly
and my mindfulness collapses...
what would Buddha do?
