Literary Shat

Tonight, I am ready for poetry
I am ready for philosophy;
I am ready for deep truth
or artful metaphors
or even light and clever story-telling

I have an apartment full of books: new and ancient

If I have any good ones,
they're buried beneath the rest:
everywhere I look is literary shat
(so far from new is that)

Whereever there is a good booke,
they will slander it and make it hard to find

A book full of insidious lies
will be in every review, promoted,
sold by the million:
it doesn't matter if it's new or old,
this is an age of learning
