Celebrity Squares
Keep my face in the public eye
Make me appeal to the masses
Let me be surrounded by PR people
Who are experts at kissing arses
Show me in turmoil I’ll pretend I’m in pain
I’ll use up my clichés and show that I’m strong
I’ll do this because I believe I am important
And I will always have my make up on
If my flower is fading can we make something up?
It’s easy enough to recycle the sympathy vote
I’ll go on breakfast tv and be everyone but me
I’ll even keep practising my scripted quotes
I’m idolised by those who must know more about me
My ghost written book has me down to the bone
Every inch of my vanity is naked and free
I’m wealthy and empty and I can’t be alone
My advisers don’t call me as often as they did
They’ve found a spring lamb waiting at the gate
They say I’m no longer in the public’s affection
That false love they had has turned into hate
I’m ridiculed by the media who once kissed my fame
But I’ll take the vitriol just to stay in the news
I won't allow anyone to forget my name
As I vanish into obscurity with my drugs and booze
I/ll grow old on my stories and feed off the scraps
Convincing those who may listen, it’s not in my head
I’ll keep all my clippings from defunct magazines
I’ll sit by the phone long after the fame is dead
