Dust in the Desert

Aiming for your throat
Biting at your breath
Blinding both your eyes
Walking you to death
Coughing to your coffin
Poison in your blood
Bombs whistling past
Bodies in dried mud
The dust in the desert
Is the fog of war
Not every soldier can see
What they’re fighting for
Bullets speeding by
Whispered in your ears
‘is this what you expected’
Trading tears for fears
Stop thinking of home
It’ll make you more alone
Remember your orders
Heart cold as stone
The dust in the desert
Is the mist of hate
Too many soldiers
See it far too late
Bravery and faith
Loyalty and lies
No government tells you
How many will die
Servants of State
An immoral coil
Told you of terrorism
Used you for oil
Politicians and platitudes
Feign sadness to your folks
Sorry for your loss
Thank you for your votes
Sorry for your loss
Thank you for your votes
