Fire. For America

Who opened the gates
Did someone ring a bell
Who changed the narrative
That turned the world into hell
Who are the people
With the twisted minds
What happened to morality
Who decided who doesn’t belong
And who decided who was right
And who was wrong.
Who told the lies
That were cleaned to be true
Whilst workers were sleeping
How did we miss the facts
That the government were keeping
Who were the actors that couldn’t act
How did we not see the smoke
We never saw the hands round our neck
How did so many gods turn a blind eye
They must have known the numbers
Of all the innocents who would die
Who built the monster made of vengeance and spite
Drawing up a cruelty plan in the middle of the night
Democracy lost its way when money came to rule
Given power to oligarchs born to be cruel
Who will stop the charge to the end of the world
When there’s no flag of resistance to unfurl
It’s too late to put out the fire
We sold the world to the highest buyer

Great poem! I do agree
Great poem! I do agree entirely. You have described the crisis of America, and for the rest of the western or modern world, very well. I hope it isn't too late to put out the fire, but I suspect it may well be. The world has already been sold!
