Tammy

The idea of going to a new school was unbearable for Tammy. All that
was on her mind was she wanted to curl up into a small ball and never
be noticed by the world. Shed had to move from her old school as her
dad and mum had been killed in a skiing accident in Alaska and she was
going to live with her mum's sister aunt Jane who she hadn't seen since
she was three years old and now she was 16 nearly 17. Tammy was the
ordinary teenager not much trouble at all.
They say the first 5 seconds are crucial when meeting your new
principal; so far she was 20 minutes late for school now that said a
lot about her. Almost running into Mrs Green the principal of
Bridgemond high school was what she thought to be the most embarrassing
thing so far but it was just the beginning of the day and Tammy's
simple life was going to be turned upside down.

Lunch break and Tammy hadn't made even one friend. She went as far as
permitted to avoid the rest of the school and some of her new
classmates. Shed lost her lunch money or maybe it had been stolen
either way she was not going to have any lunch today and her stomach
was complaining really badly.
As she sat agonising on how to just settle her stomach she noticed a
group of kids laughing and talking together, figured they were the
football and cheerleading teams for the girls seemed all into
themselves. There was one girl who amazed Tammy she was everything
Tammy wanted to be, tall, tanned, and had the most beautiful golden
hair which shone in the sun. Tammy was mesmerised by this girl she
seemed so lovely and had a nice smile as well maybe soon enough they
would be friends.
Surrounded by most of the girls was the guy, the one who had helped in
chemistry his piercing blue eyes and his short black spikes. He was
surely an eyeful no wonder why those other cheerleaders were around
him. He had smiled at her in chemistry and when he'd held her hand to
guide with the test tube shed gone weak in the knees he'd been so close
to her that she could feel his breath on her cheek. Tammy sighed, she
knew jocks like him would never fall or even think of going out with a
girl like her. No make up or latest clothes. She played with the long
ends of her dark brown hair and felt the small tear fall from her green
eye and she wept silently. She was hungry and lonely.

'Did you have a good day at school, ' called out her aunt. Tammy
dropped her bag and sat down and cried for all that it was worth all
the hurt and loneliness coming out with her tears. Aunt Jane came round
and held her close encouraging her to let it all out. She was a nice
woman older than her mum but still the sae features, a kind face and a
beautiful smile. Tammy was helped to her small room in the attic and
sat on her bed cried. With the soothing words from her aunt she drifted
into a peaceful sleep.

With aunt Jane's reassurance that everything will be all right in time
Tammy dragged herself in to her first class, chemistry. That was one of
the reasons shed dragged herself to school to see him, the boy who had
occupied most of her dreams, Dan. Another girl was trying to get his
attention, cheerleader, just what she wanted. The moment she was in
full view she noticed Dan smile while looking at her and she felt like
just floating. He had such a lovely smile. Tammy could all but help
herself to her seat and hoped for the lesson to finish so she could
run. Surely it had all been in her head, someone like Dan captain of
the football team would not surely just smile at her for no-apparent
reason. Maybe it had been a dare just to get the poor new girl. Dan
came over and sat next to her with a pleasant hello and started getting
ready for the lesson. Tammy was gob smacked by the gesture, so he had
smiled at her after all.

Tammy couldn't believe what was happening at this very moment,
everything had happened so fast. Why her, well to the pound with that
it was still her. It was lunchtime and she was sitting having her lunch
with Dan! Dan was sitting with her talking to her and well kind of
flirting. If this was death Tammy hoped to stay there for all
eternity.
Dan was actually enjoying himself. He felt he could stay with her
forever, he wished her never to go away. He wanted her to be his
forever in their world where the y could do what they wanted and not
have to answer to anyone. He was falling in love with Tammy.

Time was going by so fast. Tammy and Dan could not keep their hands
off each other. They were now the school sweethearts and would surely
be prom king and queen. Tammy had won the heart of most of the school
except of course the cheerleaders. They thought she was an insult to
them all. Dan had picked a no good scum girl from some place they
weren't all too keen to know about and he had fallen head over heels
for her and they sure as hell knew that he had. Tammy had gained so
much self confidence in the last couple of weeks and had a glow to her
which made her look all too naturally rich with beauty, her hair had a
glorious shine and her eyes had a n amazing sparkle which made all guys
just wonder what this temptress always had on mind for Dan. Everyone
wondered what them to got up to as they were hardly seen they would
drive off school campus during lunch and they were always together. The
only time they would be apart would be when they were in separate
lessons.

Tammy and Dan were so happy. They were two young people in love. They
loved taking walks on the beach and spending weekend at Dan's parents'
cabin in the mountains. No one knew what they did except themselves.
What happened in that cabin was a mystery to the rest of the world, but
everyone knew they knew each other oh too well. Tammy loved Dan's car
it was the last thing she could remember.

Tammy woke up in a daze, what had happened? Why was she&;#8230; and
her mum and dad!!
They were all there her mum, dad and aunt she felt a deep throb at her
head. What had happened to her? Where was Dan? She tried to call out
his name but she could not find the words or her voice. Her mouth was
dry and painful. As she moved her lips it seemed as if her whole face
had stretched for the firs time. Where was Dan, she needed him now, she
needed to hear him say everything would be all right. She needed to see
his smile and feel that wonderful feeling she always felt when they
were together. They were one and she wanted to be with him.

It had been three weeks since Tammy had left the hospital. She had not
said a word to anyone except her aunt. She always had been open with
her mum but she thought this was one thing she could not share, besides
aunt Jane would be of more help to her than her mum could be. They had
gone to the library that afternoon to look at the old newspapers to
find any information on Dan. There it was right in front of her, she
couldn't bear to read it so aunt Jane did. It said Dan had been for
real. He had been all she knew him to be. The picture was all Dan, he
was right there in front of her in the picture. His black spikes and
those piercing blue eyes looked back at her. Tears started streaming
down Tammy's face as aunt Jane read on. Dan Turner had been a lovely
young man who had been killed in a terrible car accident a year ago on
the same day Tammy had gone into a coma. He had slid straight into a
tree and broke his neck, his companion a young lady with long golden
hair and light blue eyes. Mrs Green the school principle had given the
schools support by holding the memorial for Dan Turner every year at
the school. The young lady who had survived has not been heard from
since.
What had happened to Tammy, where had she gone??
